Telham Embankment
Suttle Piling were instructed to install 2 lines of steel sheet piles, comprising just over 400 piles in total, to stabilise the railway embankment at Telham, East Sussex. Suttle Piling were chosen because of their extensive experience of working on the rail network and specifically in the installation of sheet piling in this environment.
This work was part of a 9-day blockade, with teams working on shifts 24 hours a day. Shifting arrangements and local boarding of personnel ensured compliance with fatigue guidance, with a comfortable margin to combat any unforeseen problems. Suttle Piling managed to complete the project ahead of schedule and on budget, even with the added complication of working beneath overhead power lines.
