The aim of this project was to supply noise attenuation, in the form of a high piled barrier, to a new Hitachi train maintenance depot, at Stoke Gifford, near Bristol. Suttle Projects were engaged, as a tier 2 contractor, to complete the installation of 600mm diameter driven tubular piles, to support the new noise attenuation.

Constraints on the project included work around complex infrastructure including permanent way sidings, with OHLE infrastructure.  The project was created around a need to mitigate noise for residents, arising from the operation of the new depot. Work was completed with modern efficient equipment to not exacerbate the situation that had seen the project scope requirement arise.

The project, encompassing a large scale and very technical work scope, was completed without any negative impacts on the existing complex infrastructure. This was accomplished with careful planning, stringent monitoring, and a well trained and briefed staff, committed to excellence throughout.
