Supporting Our Community: A Visit to Plants and Minds
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local causes, we were delighted to attend a recent ‘Thank You’ event hosted by Plants and Minds at their Poole nursery site. Representing our Community Fund Committee, Marketing & Media Manager Georgina Suttle and Chairman Chris Suttle joined charity staff, trustees, and supporters for an afternoon celebrating the positive difference Plants and Minds is making in the community.
About Plants and Minds
For those unfamiliar, Plants and Minds is a fantastic local registered charity that uses therapeutic horticulture to support people living with mental illnesses. Through meaningful occupation in a supportive and nurturing environment, the charity aims to restore confidence, wellbeing, and routine for those facing mental health challenges.
Operating two garden centres in Poole and Bournemouth, Plants and Minds not only provides an invaluable service to its participants, but also contributes to the community through its garden centres, with all purchases directly supporting the charity’s work.
Why We Got Involved
Our Community Fund Committee was proud to recently provide a donation to Plants and Minds, helping the charity upgrade their computer hardware; an important improvement that will enable them to better manage day-to-day operations and support their growing community.
As a business rooted in Dorset, we believe in giving back to the communities we’re part of and supporting causes that make a tangible, local impact.
A Great Afternoon on Site
The event was a fantastic opportunity to meet the passionate people behind the charity, including trustees, committee members and friends. Special thanks go to Chris, one of the knowledgeable and welcoming members of the Plants and Minds team, who gave our colleagues a brilliant tour of the nursery and grounds.
It was wonderful to see first-hand how the charity operates, and how the positive, therapeutic environment they’ve created benefits so many local people.
Spotting Our Materials on Site
During the visit, we were also pleased to see our gabion stone in use around the Poole nursery site. It’s always rewarding to see our materials contributing to projects with a meaningful purpose, and we’re proud to have played a small part in the development of the site through both materials supply and funding support.
Continuing Our Community Commitment
At Suttles, supporting local initiatives like Plants and Minds is an important part of how we operate. Through our Community Fund, we aim to make a positive difference by contributing to charities, community projects, and organisations that benefit the people of Dorset and the surrounding areas.
We look forward to working with and supporting Plants and Minds in the future and would encourage anyone reading to visit one of their nurseries, find out more about their work, or consider supporting this brilliant local charity.
