New Volvo Lorries Hit the Road in Dorset with Our Longest Serving Drivers
At Suttle Stone Quarries, we’re excited to announce the arrival of two brand-new Volvo tipper lorries, a major upgrade to our local fleet serving construction sites, builders and infrastructure projects across the South West.
These new Volvo lorries replace older models and feature the latest safety, fuel-efficiency, and driver-assist technology, helping us deliver quarry materials more efficiently and sustainably throughout the region.

This latest investment is part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a high standard of modern, efficient, and safe transport solutions. These two new lorries are replacing two older models and feature the latest technology designed to improve fuel efficiency, safety, and reliability across our operations.
But what makes this upgrade truly special isn’t just the machinery, it’s the people behind the wheel!
Celebrating Our Dorset Team’s Dedication
Our two new Volvo lorries have been handed over to our two longest serving drivers. James ‘Rod’ Drane, who has been part of Suttle Stone Quarries for an incredible 27 years, and Martyn Percy, who has been with us for 24 years. Both drivers received their vehicles yesterday, and today marks their first day out on the road proudly representing Suttle Stone Quarries across Dorset and beyond.
Rod and Martyn’s dedication and professionalism are a reflection of the long-standing values that drive our business: commitment, reliability, and pride in every load we deliver.

Investing in People, as Well as Progress
We’re proud that so many of our team members have been with us for decades. At Suttle Stone Quarries, we see our staff as part of our extended family. Our high employee retention shows that we value loyalty, experience, and trust just as much as we value innovation and progress.
By investing in both our people and our fleet, we continue to strengthen our reputation as one of the leading quarry and aggregate suppliers in Dorset and the wider South West.
A Safer, Smarter and Greener Fleet
These two vehicles replace older models and feature cutting-edge technology designed to improve fuel efficiency, safety, and reliability. This investment helps us move towards a more sustainable future for haulage and quarry operations, while maintaining the reliability that our Dorset customers depend on every day.
We want to thank Rod and Martyn for their many years of outstanding service, and wish them many safe, successful miles ahead in their new Volvo lorries.
