Wrecclesham Slip
Duration: 2 x 52-hour possessions, 14 weeks for full repair of embankment.
The railway track at Wrecclesham had suffered a loss of alignment in the past and preventative tamping had been undertaken in 2015, however in late 2016 emergency work was required to stabilise a landslip on this very high railway embankment.
Accessing the railway from track level Suttle Projects undertook the emergency work by utilising Movax piling equipment to drive sheet piles in cantilever to stabilise the railway line.
We made a longer-term access and compound from the fields below using recycled aggregates, and bog mats, for heavy plant to cross. Gaining access also involved installing a temporary bridge. This better access allowed for a more complete repair to be made to the embankment. This involved lots of gabions, longer sheet piles, and extensive ground re-profiling.
The temporary and permanent works had to account for the likely flooding of the field below.
